MAKE A FUN PLACES MAP

How fun is adventuring!? We are sure you have probably done alot already! So... what are some of the funnest places you've been too?

Is your backyard fun? Is your closest playground fun? How far away is it to your best friends place?

A good place to start is to MAKE A LIST of your favourite fun places.

Here's one of Captain Starlights:

- Tuna Milkshake Parlour

- Rollercoaster Valley

- Galaxy Swimming Pool

- Marshmallow Forest

Awesome! Now we have an idea of what's going on our map we can start! First lets check out what a map looks like!

These are some essentials you should try and add to your map for sure!

Most maps have the following:

- Compass: this helps to direct to map user North (up), South (down), East (right) or West (down)

- Locations: These are the fun places!

- Trail lines to connect locations: Shows you the path to take to move between the FUN PLACES

- Colour shading/background to show if on land, or water, or wherever!

- Boundary lines: This can help you figure out how far or how close or what area the fun places are in!

You're Getting it! Ok! Now to figure out the scale of your map! This means how big or how small will you make it.

Will you draw a map of your suburb?

Will you draw a map of your house?

Will you draw a map of your city!?

Think about all of your favourite fun places and how far away they all are from each other. If you have included your house, then a theme park, then your favourite shops then maybe its as a big as a city!

MATERIALS:

All you need is some paper and some colouring pencils to make this happen. The biggest thing you'll use is your brain to map it all out!

FOR SOMETHING EXTRA!

Wanna make your map into a cool scroll? Like a pirate!

All you'll need to do is get the following EXTRA MATERIALS to make a super cool scroll!

- Toilet rolls / cardboard rolls

- Glue

- string

Step 1: Trim your map back so it's the same width as the cardboard rolls.

Step 2: Add glue all over the cardboard rolls.

Step 3: Glue each end of the map onto the rolls.

Step 4: Let dry, then roll together! Tie up with a string!

And there you have it! You have a map! Maybe you could share your map with someone to see if they can discover all of your fun places! Wahoo!
